DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES — Grab Philippines and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Davao City on September 9, 2026, marking a new partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration and creating meaningful opportunities for the Muslim Filipino community.
The MOU signing brought together representatives from Grab Mindanao, the NCMF, the City Government of Davao, and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Davao City, highlighting the importance of public-private and regional cooperation in supporting inclusive community development.
Representing Grab Mindanao during the event was Paul Manapat, who joined NCMF Regional Director for Region XI (Davao) Arch. Sherrila Porza-Sawah in the formalization of the partnership.
The collaboration between Grab Philippines and NCMF reflects a shared commitment to developing initiatives that can support the Muslim Filipino community while promoting greater inclusion and access to opportunities.
The partnership also underscores the growing role of the private sector in working alongside government institutions to address community needs and contribute to inclusive economic development.
The program also included a message for Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, delivered by Mark Macalipis.
Also present was Hon. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh, Consul General of Malaysia in Davao City, adding an international dimension to the gathering and highlighting the continuing relationship between the Philippines and Malaysia.
With Malaysia and the southern Philippines sharing long-standing cultural, economic, and people-to-people connections, the participation of the Malaysian Consulate added significance to the partnership being formalized in Davao.
The signing of the MOU represents more than a formal agreement between organizations. It signals an effort to strengthen cooperation and develop programs that can create practical benefits for Muslim Filipinos.
For Davao and the wider Mindanao region, partnerships involving government agencies, private companies, and international partners can play an important role in advancing inclusive growth and community empowerment.
